Introduction

The Department of Applied Life Science and Health was founded in 1999 with the establishment of a 4-year undergraduate program. One year later, a 4-year continuing education program was set up. The major objective of our department is to educate students in knowledge of health foods, care service, activity design and practice, and life planning and management. Courses offered in our department provide an extensive theoretical and practical understanding of this profession. Our ultimate goal is to educate our students to achieve success in health food preparation, health-promotion and care-related professions.

Teaching and Learning

We provide students with professional training in the fields of health food preparation, health-promotion and care giving, enabling them to become specialists in one or all of these domains. Our graduates are eligible to apply for positions in Chinese and Western cuisine preparation, diet design and preparation, care service, senior activity design and practice, and housekeeping management, or to pursue graduate degrees in home economics, applied life science, food & nutrition science, food & beverage management and care management.
