Introduction

Origins of Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science (CNU)

After the end of World War II, medical resources in Taiwan were extremely scarce. With the compassion of salvation and the ideal of establishing schools to help people, the founder, Mr. Chen Wang, invited professionals in the fields of medicine and education to establish Private ChiaNan College of Pharmacy in 1966. Adhering to the school motto Truthfulness, we have grown steadily in response to the world trend, industrial development and social changes. We were awarded the third, second and first place respectively from 1991 to 1994 in the overall evaluation of the performance of private junior colleges. In 1996, thanks to the outstanding performance on the school management, we were upgraded by Ministry of Education to become ChiaNan College of Pharmacy and Science. In 2000, we were formally accredited with full university status, becoming ChiaNan Technical University of Pharmacy and Science. Further, we mapped out the educational objectives and development axes Whole Person Health Service.

In 2014, we were renamed as ChiaNan University of Pharmacy and Science (CNU), with a view to nurturing professionals for LOHAS Innovative Services. We were awarded Teaching Excellence Program by Ministry of Education (MOE) from 2009 to 2017. We were further awarded Higher Education Sprout Project by MOE from 2018 to 2027. Currently, the existing colleges are College of Pharmacy & Science, College of Smart Living, and College of Sustainable Environment and Recreation.

The transition from the former ChiaNan Junior College to ChiaNan University of Pharmacy & Science is compared to the evolution from passive medical treatment to the active pursuit of health and wellness, symbolizing Truthfulness's history in inheritance and transformation. Since its founding in 1966 with an enrollment of 300 freshmen, CNU has nurtured more than 130,000 outstanding alumni in all walks of life, and they are currently making their marks in a wide range of professions. Our alumni are highly sought after by industry and are well known for their contribution to society.

Educational Objectives

With pharmacy and health as the core axis, we integrate the efforts of faculty members and students to invest in developing innovative values in particular fields such as pharmacy, food, cosmetic, safety technologies, intelligent and healthy living, and sustainable environmental resources.
