The Department of Sports Management at Chia-Nan University of Pharmacy and Science was founded in 2006. With the ever increasing importance of sports and health in modern lifestyle, the sports industry is currently flourishing. In order to support the continued development of this huge industry, it is necessary to have sufficient numbers of trained professional personnel. Such personnel need to be qualified not only to provide instruction in specific sports, but also to employ sports instruction to promote health. By combining these two aspects of knowledge, it is possible to stimulate the sports industry and create new markets. This department provides professional courses in sports management, marketing, athletic instruction and sports instruction, unified by a common goal of promoting health. We also offer internship training courses and practicing professionals from within the sports industry as teachers. In the Ministry of Education university evaluation of 2010, our department received the highest grade, indicating a strong endorsement by the MOE of the methods and outcomes of our program.
The aim of our department is to cultivate excellent professionals for employment in the sports industry. In addition to our specialist courses in sports instruction, our department invites professionals from the sports industry to teach the necessary knowledge and skills in practice. The objectives of our courses include both the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and its practical application in real situations. To achieve this objective, we have signed numerous agreements with sports institutions offering internship and employment opportunities. At the same time, we offer courses assisting students to obtain professional certificates from the sports industry. This will increase their competitiveness in the employment market after graduation.
